STERLING HAWKINS
Project Logs
The next world-changing idea is likely floating around in someone’s gray matter.
It’s a compelling thought; one that can distill all innovation and progress down to the smallest unit of measurement: an idea.
From the iPhone to the F-22 Raptor, everything around us is a product of small, compounding, incremental ideas. They stack and stack and stack. I’m paraphrasing, but Steve Jobs felt similar.
Where do ideas come from? I think they come from the things we fundamentally believe—about people, the human condition, what it means to be alive…
Sterling Hawkins is one of those nodes of progress. He fundamentally believes that our discomfort is a guiding light into our most personally and professionally transformational moments. In fact, he guides organizations toward the same kind of transformation - at their core, an organization has fears, doubts, and limiting beliefs just like we do. He believes that seeking discomfort, both as individuals and as organizations, allows us to sidestep the shiny veneer of plastic progression.
For this film, we worked together, alongside Director Josiah Jones, to craft a narrative around Sterling’s inner world and how that manifests in his work with some of the most influential companies in the market.
